Rare win for Goa

CHENNAI, DEC. 11. Hyderabad tried to boost its run-rate, but ended up losing to Goa by two runs in a thrilling finish in a Subbiah Pillai encounter at the CPT-IP ground here on Monday.

Batting first, Goa, with Tanveer Jabbar top-scoring with 76, made 235 in the allotted fifty overs. Hyderabad seemed powering its way to a triumph with opener Daniel Manohar (94) and skipper V.V.S. Laxman (74) raising 124 runs for the second wicket. However, after the pair was separated, wickets fell in a heap and Goa registered a rare victory over a fancied rival.

Hyderabad scored six points from five games, while Goa finished with two.
