Orissa Minister resigns
BHUBANESWAR, DEC. 12. The Orissa Urban Development Minister, Mr.
Samir Dey, today tendered his resignation to the Chief Minister,
Mr. Naveen Patnaik.
Mr. Dey has resigned protesting against the shifting of various
State and Central Government offices from his Cuttack Assembly
constituency to the State Capital.
Mr. Dey told UNI over phone that he had tendered his resignation
to Mr. Patnaik and asked him to accept it if his Government did
not reconsider its decision to shift the offices from Cuttack to
Bhubaneswar within a week.
Mr. Dey said the BJD-BJP political manifesto during the last
Assembly election had clearly stipulated that no Government
office, would be shifted from Cuttack, the old capital of Orissa,
if the alliance was voted to power.
