Plea for worship dismissed
ALLAHABAD, DEC. 14. The Allahabad High Court has dismissed a writ
petition seeking a direction to the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh
Government to permit Hindus to perform worship and other
religious rites at the disputed site in Ayodhya.
A Division Bench, comprising Mr. Justice B. K. Roy and Mr.
Justice A. K. Yog, on Wednesday passed the order, summarily
rejecting the petition filed by an advocate in 1993.
The court ruled that the prayer was misconceived as the matter
was sub judice before the Lucknow Bench of the court.
Earlier, counsels of the two Governments informed the court that
the respondents were not going to do anything in regard to the
status quo of the deities, land and temple at the site in
Ayodhya.
