Haryana offer to units displaced from Delhi
By Our Special Correspondent
CHANDIGARH, DEC. 14. The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr.Om Prakash
Chautala, today directed officers of the State Industries
Department to provide adequate infrastructure and space for
resettlement of industrial units affected by the Supreme Court
directive ordering closure of certain groups of industrial units
in Delhi.
The Chief Minister said the areas around Jhajjar and Badli on one
side and Kundli on the other would be most suitable to these
displaced units because of their proximity to the existing units
and availability of sufficient infrastructure. He asked officers
to develop new industrial estates, if required, in the Kundli
area where more than 500 acres of land is available with the
Government. The Chief Minister also asked the PWD Secretary, Mr.
Vivek Mehrotra, to improve the Jhajjar, Badli-Delhi road.
Mr. Chautala had asked the Industries Department to contact Delhi
industrialists for shifting their units to Haryana.
The Chief Minister has also, through a written communication,
informed the Union Minister of Urban Development, Mr. Jagmohan,
of his willingness to offer the industrial and infrastructure
facilities.
Mr. Chautala has told Mr. Jagmohan that the core concept of
National Capital Region which embodied the spirit of dispersal of
economic activity and habitation in a planned manner was being
over-looked. He said he had no doubt in his mind that in case the
NCR is developed in right earnest, Mr. Jagmohan would be
remembered for his far-sightedness.
