DMK warns NDA
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, DEC. 15. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK
president, Mr. M. Karunanidhi, asserted that his party would not
hesitate to quit the NDA if it ``went against the National Agenda
for Governance''.
``This is the view in the DMK right from the top leaders to the
last cadre,'' he said at an Iftaar party organised by the Tamil
Maanila Desiya League here today.
Mr. Karunanidhi hailed the Prime Minister, Mr. A.B. Vajpayee's
assurance in Parliament on Thursday that the Centre would abide
by the court verdict in the Ayodhya issue.
Asserting that the DMK's attitude towards the minorities and on
ensuring their rights was not contingent on the party either
``saving'' its Government in Tamil Nadu or its Ministerial berths
in New Delhi, he said, ``Our presence in the NDA is to prevent
any harm that may come your way.''
