Double murder: Police yet to make any breakthrough

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, DEC. 15. The Indiranagar police, who have not been able to make any breakthrough in solving the double murder case reported from C.M.H.Road on Thursday, are investigating the case from various angles.

Police suspect that a person known to Praveen, who was a telephone booth employee, and his friend, Sadananda Shetty, who had come to the City from Mumbai in search of a job, would have murdered them. They have found a pair of shoes at their room in Manjunatha Complex, where the two were murdered, leading to such a suspicion.

An officer, involved in the investigation, told The Hindu that a stranger would not have taken off his shoes before committing the murder. Someone, who stayed with the victims on the night the murder took place, might have committed the crime, he added.

Police are making efforts to identify the woman whose photograph was found in the room. They are also trying to ascertain whether Shetty had any enemies. An officer said that one of Shetty's rivals might have followed him to Bangalore from Mumbai and murdered him and Praveen. "We are checking the antecedents of Shetty, particularly, what he was doing in Mumbai before coming here," an officer said.

However, what has intrigued police is the injuries found on the victims' private parts. "Only psychopaths resort to such acts," an officer noted.

On Thursday night, policemen, deployed near the complex, questioned the autorickshaw drivers, who park their vehicles there at night, to find out whether any suspicious activity took place in its vicinity on Wednesday night or in the early hours of Thursday, an officer said.
