Cookie Man widens operations

By Our Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI, DEC. 15. Cookie Man Foods India, a joint venture with Cookie Man Australia, plans to widen its operations with the opening of two more outlets in the city and creating more franchise shops in other States.

Speaking at a press conference here today, Mr. R. Chandrasekaran, Managing Director, said Cookie Man at the Spenzer Plaza would be successfully completing its first full year of operations in January. The second shop would come up at Anna Nagar in January followed by another one in Adyar. Besides plans were on to open more franchise shops in major metros throughout the country, for which it had already received several applications. Cookie Man India had so far invested about Rs. 1.10 crores and planned to invest fresh funds jointly with the Australian interest for the proposed expansion.

Mr. John Lynch, the non-executive director said Cookie Man had been the leading fresh baked cookie franchise company for more than 40 years in Australia. The company has more than 40 outlets all over Australia and the brand is present in 20 countries worldwide. By the end of fiscal 2002 the company would have a total of 20 franchise outlets.

The dawn of new year would see the launch of `super cookie' (a large size cookie made with rich and luxurious ingredients which are never before available in India), he said. Each franchisee outlet would cost around Rs. 30 lakhs and the franchise would be an entrepreneur and not an investor he said.

While the shop would be owned by the franchisee the ingredients and specialised equipment and a unique oven would be made available by Cookie Man. These outlets would be web-enabled, he said.
