NEW DELHI, DEC. 20. The Far Eastern Economic Review today rated
the IT company Infosys Technologies as India's top corporate
house for 2000.Only two years after Infosys made its debut in the
'Review 2000: Asia's leading companies' listing, Infosys has
topped India's corporate ratings this year.
Reliance Industries, with its interest in petrochemical, oil, gas
and the textile sector, has been ranked as the second best
corporate house in India, followed by infotech company Wipro.
Making a debut in the fourth place was ICICI, followed by the
pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy Lab., ITC and Satyam Computer
Services."Infosys meteoric rise mirrors the growth of the
country's software industry, but also reflects its reputation as
a leader in all things such as most transparency, wealth creation
and professional management," the review said.
While software and education company NIIT ranked eighth, the two-
wheeler giant Hero Honda Motors and the construction and
engineering company Larsen & Toubro ranked ninth and tenth places
respectively.
The companies were judged on the basis of product and service
quality, long-term management vision, innovation in responding to
customer needs and financial soundness.
The software giant Microsoft remained the leading multinational
company doing business in Asia for the sixth year in running.
Fast food chain McDonald's followed closely at the second spot
while the telecom company Nokia ranked third in Asia.
