Infosys rated as best Indian corporate house

NEW DELHI, DEC. 20. The Far Eastern Economic Review today rated the IT company Infosys Technologies as India's top corporate house for 2000.Only two years after Infosys made its debut in the 'Review 2000: Asia's leading companies' listing, Infosys has topped India's corporate ratings this year.

Reliance Industries, with its interest in petrochemical, oil, gas and the textile sector, has been ranked as the second best corporate house in India, followed by infotech company Wipro.

Making a debut in the fourth place was ICICI, followed by the pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy Lab., ITC and Satyam Computer Services."Infosys meteoric rise mirrors the growth of the country's software industry, but also reflects its reputation as a leader in all things such as most transparency, wealth creation and professional management," the review said.

While software and education company NIIT ranked eighth, the two- wheeler giant Hero Honda Motors and the construction and engineering company Larsen & Toubro ranked ninth and tenth places respectively.

The companies were judged on the basis of product and service quality, long-term management vision, innovation in responding to customer needs and financial soundness.

The software giant Microsoft remained the leading multinational company doing business in Asia for the sixth year in running.

Fast food chain McDonald's followed closely at the second spot while the telecom company Nokia ranked third in Asia.
