PM not invited for Sonia's Iftar party
NEW DELHI, DEC. 21. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee,
was conspicuous by his absence at the Iftar party hosted by the
Congress president, Ms. Sonia Gandhi, at the AICC headquarters
here today.
Asked about his absence, a spokesman of the Prime Minister's
Office said that he was not invited by Ms. Gandhi.
Ms. Gandhi had attended the Iftar party hosted by the Prime
Minister at Hotel Ashoka on Tuesday last.
Congress sources confirmed that Mr. Vajpayee was not invited for
the party as it was a party function. Invitations were extended
by Ms. Gandhi as the Congress president and not as the Leader of
Opposition in the Lok Sabha, they added.
