Autodesk launches Inventor 4
By Our Special Correspondent
BANGALORE, DEC. 21. Autodesk announced today the global launch of
Release 4 of its high-performance 3D mechanical design software,
Autodesk Inventor, just five months since the launch of Release
3.
Among the over 150 enhancements in the current release is full
DWG file compatibility from the source , making it easier for
AutoCAD customers to import legacy drawings in DWG format to use
as a starting point for a new model or as a reference
``backdrop'' for a top-down modelling session.
``With the first release of Autodesk Inventor earlier this year,
we targeted large companies that were primarily using competitive
parametric software, '' said Mr. S. Sridhar, Managing Director,
SAARC Region, Autodesk India Pvt. Ltd. ``With Release 4, we are
expanding the market for Autodesk Inventor to all mechanical
designers , particularly 2D designers who want to make the move
to 3D,'' he added.
Autodesk Inventor 4 is available as a multi-platform licence for
Microsoft Windows 98, 2000 and NT. It will cost around Rs. 2.20
lakhs per licence in India and this includes a year's
maintenance. Mr. Sridhar expected that the Indian demand might go
up to 1500 licences per year.
