CM to brief Jagmohan on hardships

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, DEC. 21. The Delhi Congress Legislature Party (CLP) under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Ms. Sheila Dixit, has sought an appointment with the Union Urban Development Minister, Mr. Jagmohan, to apprise him of the problems that have cropped up during the sealing and relocation of industries.

In another interesting development, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee(I) held an emergency meeting under the leadership of its president, Mr. Subhash Chopra, and decided to march down to Nirman Bhavan, the office of the Urban Development Minister to lodge their protest against the indiscriminate closure of industries.

The Congress leaders are likely to gherao the Minister and court arrest to show that they were strongly behind the industrial workers and factory owners and would not let them get displaced.

The DPCC(I) leaders and workers would wear black badges to convey their resentment against the unjustified closure of polluting industries in the third phase of the ``Nayaya Yudh''. The DPCC(I) has also sought an appointment with Mr. Jagmohan to apprise him about the way the Nodal Agency was going around closing industrial units causing harship to the poor people. Mr. Chopra also met the Chief Minister and apprised her about their intention to undertake the march and court arrest.

On the other hand, the members of the CLP, led by Ms. Dixit, have also sought an appointment with Mr. Jagmohan to brief him of the ground realities and the problems faced by even genuine industrial unit owners. The MLAs have been facing protests from the people including industrial workers, who are demanding that some rehabilitation package be given to them. They also want the government to seek more time from the Supreme Court for the relocation process so that they are able to work out their future plans in a systematic manner.
