Family of cons
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, DEC. 22. A five-member family from Delhi, including two
women and an 8-year-old girl, were arrested by the Nungambakkam
police on Thursday on charges of stealing sarees from a shop. A
car used by the family has also been seized.
The family allegedly confessed to the police that they had stolen
sarees from shops in various cities posing as customers, before
their arrest in Chennai.
According to police, the family had left Delhi by car on December
16. They visited Agra, Nagpur, Gwalior, Hyderabad before reaching
Chennai. In each of the places they had stolen sarees from a
minimum of two shops, police said.
They used to enter big shops, divert the attention of the shop
keepers and hide the sarees on their person. They were caught
when they attempted to steal from a shop at Nungambakkam in a
similar fashion. All the arrested were remanded today.
