Cisco chief to visit India from Jan. 15

BANGALORE, DEC. 23. Mr. John T.Chambers, President and CEO of
Cisco Systems Inc., will visit India for the first time from
January 15 to 17. India will be the first stop in his Asia tour
in the new year.
Cisco is considered to be the world leader in networking for the
Internet, and has business ties with several Bangalore-based IT
corporates. Mr. Chambers led Cisco from $ 1.2 billion in annual
revenues in 1995 to $ 26.1 billion in fiscal year 2001. It is one
of the fastest growing companies and has achieved a market
capitalisation of $ 500 million. In India and the Asia-Pacific
region as well, Cisco has been growing at a rapid rate along with
the growth of the Internet in the region.
Mr. Manoj Chugh, President, India & SAARC, Cisco Systems, said:
"The fact that Mr. Chambers has chosen to begin his Asia tour
with India demonstrates the importance of this market to the
company. India is Cisco's second fastest growing market in the
world."
Mr. Chambers is expected to meet top government and business
leaders and share with them Cisco's perspectives on the Internet
revolution and how India and companies in India can leverage the
Net to become a global force. He will share with them how the
Internet is becoming "the Network of Networks", and how internet
Protocol (IP) is becoming the medium through which all
communications, including data, voice and video, will flow.
