The week ahead
MERRY Christmas, Happy New Year, and have a great Solar Eclipse!
Arguably, this New Year represents the true turning of the
millennium, unfettered by the media extravaganzas and Y2K
paranoia of last year's celebrations. It seems that the
millennial clockwork is about to grind forward relatively devoid
of pomp and circumstance. Appropriately, the astrological
circumstances surrounding this New Year are also fairly low-key,
with little sign of momentous happenings or terrible disasters.
In the beginning of this week, there is a Solar Eclipse in the
sign of Capricorn, which basically feels like a very intense New
Moon. Any New Moon is a great time to start any sort of project,
but a Solar Eclipse is a particularly auspicious time to begin a
new undertaking. With this week's eclipse coinciding with the New
Year, it is definitely a time for new beginnings!
Queries answered
When does Parvatha Yogam obtain, and what are its benefits?
T. E. Ramaswamy,
Tharamani, Chennai.
THERE are two views about Parvatha Yoga. One says it is present
if beneficient planets are in Thrikona Sthanas (Trines) namely
Lagna, the Fifth and the Ninth. The other view posits existence
of the yoga, if there are planets in all the kendras (Quadrants),
namely Lagna, the Fourth, the Seventh and the Tenth. Persons born
with parvatha yoga are apt to be graceful in conduct and flow
with sympathy for the underprivileged. They are likely to be
talented with particular interest in music and other arts. Being
equable of temperament, they will not be perturbed by the
vicissitudes of life.
