Berkeley Vamsi Awards for 3 years presented

HYDERABAD, DEC. 24. The Berkeley Vamsi Awards for films for the years 1997, 1998 and 1999 were presented at a glittering function here on Sunday. The NTR Swarna Kankanam award was given to Mr. Chiranjeevi for the movies, "Sneham Kosam" and "Iddaru Mithrulu" while the Savitri Swarna Kankanam award was presented to Ms.Vijayasanthi for the film "Bharata Ratna".

The Union Minister of State for Home, Mr. Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and the Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya, presented the awards and honoured both the actor and actress with a shawl and a citation. The Smita Patil Gold Medal award was given to Mrs. Jayaprada, M.P.

The awards for various categories of films released in the years 1997, 1998 and 1999 were presented on the occasion. The prominent film personalities who received the awards included Mr. Dasari Narayana Rao, Mr.S.V.Krishna Reddy, Mr. E.V.V.Satyanarayana, Mr. Kodi Ramakrishna, Mr. Brahmanandam, Parachuri brothers, Mr. Rajendra Prasad, Mr. Sudhakar, Mr. Mallikarjun Rao, Mr. Tanikella Bharani, and Ms. Raasi.

The Minister for Information & Public Relations, Dr. N.Sivaprasad, former M.P, Mr. T.Subbirami Reddy, Mr. D.Rama Naidu, M.P., Dr.Laxman, MLA, were among those present.

Earlier, the members of TANA were also felicitated by Mrs. Jayaprada and Mr. T. Subbirami Reddy.
