Marsh to replace Kumble
By P. Subramanyam
LONDON, DEC. 24. Leicestershire County Cricket Club has signed up
Australian Daniel Marsh, son of former legendary Australian
wicket-keeper, Rodney Marsh, as its overseas player for next
season (summer 2001) according to an announcement on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Tasmanian all-rounder, a middle-order batsman and
slow left arm spinner, has agreed to join the Grace Road Club as
a replacement for last summer's Indian leg-spinner, Anil Kumble.
``He's a tough customer in the middle order who'll add to our
game,'' said the County cricket manager, Jack Birkenshaw. It is
understood that Marsh is likely to start batting at number five
or six, but, he may want to work his way up in the batting order.
