Tribal splendour
"VIBE WITH tribes", at Seams Natural (58, M.G. Road, Sastri
Nagar, Adyar, phone 4464335), showcases a wide array of formal
and casual wear for women.
The collection draws inspiration from the crafts tradition of
tribals from Central India. Made of handwoven, vegetable-dyed
natural cotton and tussar, the designs and motifs bring alive
tribal landscapes and legends. Designer Binu Jha has used fabrics
designed and woven by the Gond, Oraon, Muria and Maria tribes.
Traditional motifs and designs coupled with contemporary Indo-
Western styling gives the collection a unique edge.
Some of the most popular motifs on the fabrics are the temple-
shaped "tikkis" along the borders, the geometrical "billikhoj",
diamond "titli", "machli", "sitachok" and "ramigaali." The most
popular pallu designs such as "chchapai ocha", "bundki ocha" and
"kairiphool ocha" are also incorporated into stoles and dupattas.
Kurtis, bell pants and salwar sets form part of the collection.
Check them out before month-end.
