KASSIA members plan hunger strike

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE, DEC. 25. Members of the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) have threatened to launch a hunger strike from New Year's Day protesting against the increase in power tariff notified by the KPTCL.

At a special meeting held here on Monday, members of KASSIA along those of with its district associations decided on various action plans that included staging a hunger strike, non-payment of commercial tax and non-payment of KPTCL bills.

The association urged that the proposed revision should be deferred up to March 31 in view of the rates committed to the customers.

KASSIA maintained that the increase was a form of daylight robbery and the increase in fixed charges for the SSI sector up to 82 per cent, was not justifiable.
