No drought, only draught

DRAUGHT BEER - innumerable bubbles streaming up the amber - gold lager filled jar - dew drops trickling down the glass surface and the fragrance of fresh brew gently rising up! Uhmmm...there's something about draught beer! And what the heck, who wants to know what those `bloody marys' are all about? Just imagine chilled draught beer slithering down the throat slowly!

If your thoughts meander to the days in the not too distant past when Hyderabad almost became the pub capital of the country - of course, it all went up in smoke thanks to prohibition - you are bang on target. After all, those were the days of pub hopping and pitchers of draught beer! Remember, Black Cadillac, Bierkeller, Ten Downing Street, Beatroute, Barrel Streethouse, Oaken Cask, Holiday Pub and the likes.

Ah, that was a mugful, ahem, a bit of history. And now the reality! All ye lager lovers, rejoice. Draught beer is back in the city with a bang and yes, it has to for it is the Boxing Day! United Breweries, the stable of the country's popular draught beer, Kingfisher, is making available again its brew at select outlets.

The re-launch of draught beer has ended the waiting period of beer lovers - the talk was in the air since the past two or three months and many of the pubs and star hotels had even installed the required equipment. "Kingfisher draught is available in almost all the pubs and restaurants of the country. With its re- launch here, Hyderabadis can look forward to all the good times the brand promises. This is our New Year gift to Hyderabad," smiles the Divisional Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, United Breweries India Limited.

Kingfisher draught would be available at Hotel Taj Banjara, Grand Kakatiya, Taj Residency, Hotel Ramada Manohar, Hotel Basera, Central Court, Bluemoon, Yatri Nivas, Ohris and Silver Metro. "We are also planning a series of in-house promotions to drive home the youthful image of the brand," he explained.

Indeed, the beer brigade of Hyderabad is poised for a whale of a time with ale! Open all those kegs and let fun `n' froth flow!
