Pole vault
Festive spirit, snow abound on the ground and falling from the
skies, trees aglow, stars in the sky and some atop houses, gifts
galore and of course, the goody Santa Claus. The Christmas cheer
is here.
Except for the snow and ice, all the other ingredients that go
with the Jesus Christ's birthday celebrations are there
everywhere here. The wintry chill barely makes up for the snow,
isn't it? Hold on, there was one place in the twin cities which
decided to celebrate Christmas the way it is observed in the
colder climes. One that has snowflakes, a good amount of them and
thick solid blocks of ice.
This was at the Jubilee Hills International Centre where Event
Ragas put up a `North Pole' show. Since even in the hills, it is
unimaginable to make the snow fall, they had an alternative in
cotton wool and thermocol particles for the make-believe white
stuff. It wasn't a deterrence for children to roll around and put
some onto themselves!
Giving them company was the big snowman with its enigmatic smile.
The older ones were jiving to the music set up by the DJ who had
the company of two Santa Clauses - the traditional one and the
gorgeous one who took upon herself to belt out the
`Maria...Marias..' and the Hindi clones...
There were games and foodstalls thrown in and ticket takers were
given 10 hours of Internet time free by Vedaonline. And, prizes
were there for mocktail mixes with Pepsi and the dancing kings
and queens to usher in X mas.
