CM's figures on SC recruitment 'irrelevant'
CHENNAI, DEC. 26. The TMC has condemned the government's move
scrapping GO no. 44 which enabled direct recruitment of the
SC,STs to clear the existing backlog in the reserved categories
in government departments.
In a statement, the party's vice president, Mr. K. Paramalai said
that the `irrelevant statistics' furnished by the Chief Minister,
Mr. M. Karunanidhi justifying the withdrawal of G0. no.44 would
not satisfy the SC,STs.
While presenting a white paper on reservations, the Chief
Minister had announced that recruitments would be done at the
entry-level of various departments to fill vacancies in various
categories of services.
However, this would not help the SC,STs. For instance, the entry-
level post in the Revenue department is that of a clerk and for a
clerical staff to become the Deputy Collector, which is the
entry-level post in Group A, would take a minimum of 25 years.
