Police jeep runs over sleeping boy

CHENNAI, DEC. 26. A boy was fatally run over and two others were
injured when the driver of a police jeep lost control and the
vehicle ran over a pavement on which they were sleeping on Waltax
Road in the early hours of today.
Police identified the victim as Ajit (7). The injured were
treated as out-patients.
According to police, a police constable, Arianathan, was
proceeding to Triplicane police station from Kondhitope when he
was involved in the mishap. The driver, while attempting to avoid
a dog which suddenly darted onto the road, lost control of the
vehicle.
The constable has been arrested and investigation is on.
