Police rescue kidnap victim, arrest three

HYDERABAD, DEC. 26. In a swift move, the Saroornagar police rescued a kidnap victim within three hours of his abduction, and arrested all the key persons allegedly involved after they raided a private hostel in Tarnaka area on Tuesday morning.

The police said the arrested persons -- Kameshwar Rao, Madhu, Yadagiri, Inna Reddy and Naeem -- had gone to Viveknagar where the kidnapped person Radhakrishna Murthy was living. As he came out of the house around 6 a.m., they whisked him away in the an ambassador car.

On seeing the kidnap, the Saroornagar police was alerted by the victim's wife and the police teams which took up investigation raided the hostel in Tarnaka at 9.30 a.m. The police team found Murthy and the kidnappers also. Murthy was gagged and tied up in a small room.

The police later found that the main accused, Kameshwar Rao, and Murthy were earlier into shares business and both suffered huge losses. It was said that Murthy had promised to pay Rs. 1 lakh to Kameshwar Rao to offset some of the losses the latter had incurred.

When Murthy got a job in a private company, Kameshwar Rao began demanding repayment of the money and this had prompted him to plan the kidnap. The Saroornagar police have registered a case of kidnap, wrongful confinement and extortion against the five arrested persons.
