Ex-PCC chiefs, former CMs in State's AICC list

HYDERABAD, DEC. 28. Almost all the senior leaders and former PCC- I presidents besides three ex-Chief Ministers and 14 MLAs figure in the list of 83 "elected" AICC members from Andhra Pradesh.

The list of elected and coopted AICC members was released by Ms Kumudben Joshi, Pradesh Returning Officer, at Delhi on Thursday.

The APCC-I president, Mr.M.Satyanarayana Rao, told presspersons that the AICC members from the State would meet here on December 30 to adopt a "single-line" resolution authorising the Congress President, Mrs Sonia Gandhi to nominate all the 24 CWC members.

Mr.Rao said there was no need for Ms Joshi to convene the meeting. He was advised to hold the meeting by the AICC general secretary in charge of AP, Mr.Motilal Vora.

Besides Mr.Satyanarayana Rao and the leader of the Congress Legislature Party, Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, the list consists of former Chief Ministers, Mr.Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy, Mr.N.Janardhan Reddy, Mr.N.Bhaskara Rao, former Union Ministers, Mr.G.Venkataswamy, Mr.P.Shiv Shankar, Mr.P.Upendra, Mrs Renuka Chowdary, Mr.S.Jaipal Reddy and former PCC-I presidents, Mr.Mallikarjun, Mr.K.Rosaiah, Mr.V.Hanumantha Rao, Mr.P.Narsa Reddy and former deputy Chief Minister, Mr.K.Ranga Rao.

Among the notable ommissions from the AICC list are Mr.Kamatam Ram Reddy, a follower of Mr.Vijayabhaskara Reddy and Dr.D.L.Ravindra Reddy, a close associate of Dr.Rajasekhara Reddy and former Minister Mohd Jani.

The list includes 17 coopted members and nine women members. The presidents of four front organisations, NSUI, Seva Dal, Youth Congress and Mahila Congress, are also treated as coopted AICC members.

In the elected category there are 21 women members and in the nominated category nine. The representation of women in the overall list of elected and nominated categories falls marginally short of 33 per cent promised by the leadership.
