Film Review: Pandavas-The Five Warriors

IT IS refreshing to see a film which tells the story of Mahabharata with out sidetracking to dance and songs. It is also heartening that an Indian graphics company, in Chennai, has done a job to match the standard of foreign companies which have the technical knowledge and software.

Pentamedia Graphics limited has come out with a beautiful film, ``Pandavas-The five warriors'', in 3D animated form. The story starts from the birth of the Pandavas and narrates how they are brought up in the atmosphere of a hermitage. There they learn the qualities that go to make a warrior and also acquire the knowledge to meet the challenges in life.

Each and every frame of the nearly 110 minute long picture is a marvel and it is the best form of expression on celluloid.

Expression on the faces of the characters whether they are the Pandavas or the Kauravas and particularly some scenes where Duryothana visits Maya's palace built for Pandavas, how Saguni and Duryothana plan to kill Pandavas and when it misfires their reaction and the climax, the Kurukshetra war all are told with enough pep to keep the viewers spellbound.

The backbone for this type of venture is the 3D animation. There are competent professionals in the film industry to make it work excellently. The screenplay is written by Sujatha Rangarajan who has done his homework. Music by Ilaiyaraja is another highlight. Editors Lenin and V. T. Vijayan have essentially worked to speed up the narrative to the maximum. Creative director J.D. Jerry has taken enough care to sustain the tempo of the film which has been directed by Usha Ganesh Raja for Pentamedia Graphics limited.
