2 die in police firing, bomb attack in Nepal
KATHMANDU, DEC. 31. Two people were killed today in police firing
in southeastern Nepal while the homes of three leaders of the
ruling party became the target of bomb attacks, officials said.
At least two people were killed and three injured in police
firing a Rajbiraj, 275 kilometres southeast of Kathmandu, when
activists of the pro-India Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP-Goodwill
Party) were holding a demonstration, party sources said.
A home ministry spokesman confirmed the death of only one and
injuries to a couple of people but sources in Rajbiraj told AFP
that two were killed and three gravely injured in the firing.
The NSP had staged demonstrations to protest against the attacks
on businessmen of Indian origin living in Nepal in Tuesday's
anti-India agitation launched by Left-wing student groups.
