Ranchi violence claims DSP's life
RANCHI, DEC. 31The Deputy Superintendent of Police of Hatia in
Jharkhand, Mr. U.C. Jha, who was injured in mob violence here on
Thursday, died in hospital today.
The mob was protesting against the killing of a seven-year-old
girl in an accident which then led to police firing in which
three youths were killed.
The State Chief Secretary, Mr. V.S. Dubey, said the
administration earlier planned to relax the curfew in Ranchi
tomorrow but was now having a rethink following the death of Mr.
Jha.
However, no untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the
capital during the curfew relaxation period today.
Jawans of the CRPF and the Rapid Action Force were patrolling in
and around Ranchi.
