Over 10 injured in lathicharge

WARANGAL, DEC. 31. Police resorted to a lathicharge to quell a
mob, which held up traffic on the main road in Parkal town on
Sunday, expressing solidarity with an indefinite hunger strike by
5 farmers against alleged irregularities in the distribution of
compensation to ryots, who suffered losses by sowing `Excel-35'
seed.
Ten to 15 demonstrators suffered minor injuries in a lathicharge.
The police also arrested four leaders, including Mr. Kasarla Ram
Reddy and Mr. Chaduvu Anna Reddy, president and secretary
respectively of the district Rytu Seva Samithi, Telangana Jana
Sabha district convenor, Mr. Gangadhar Rao, and BJYM State
executive member, Mr. Dubashi Vasudev. They were released on
personal bonds.
