An e-date with Samyuktha

YOU HAVE HEARD it often. Tales of folks who have made it big overnight. People who rushed headlong into fame and stardom. If you have an ear for such stories, then you might also have heard the tale of a young girl who was sitting in Thrissur college one day and was emoting to a camera the next. The tale of Malayalam actress Samyuktha Varma.

Those of you who have not yet heard the story, but fell in love with this talent-rich actress after say a `Mazha' or a `Madhuranombarakkattu' might want to take a quick virtual visit to the `Keral.com' website and click open the link to Samyuktha's page. Alternately, you could also try `samyukthavarma.net/' to read all about your favourite star.

Samyuktha's home page is dominated by a striking picture of the actress that gives you a welcome smile into her page. The page also gives you links to a picture gallery, a `track record', `recent releases' and of course a guest book. However, to begin at the beginning, you would have to click open the `About Samyuktha' icon which tells you how the college girl became a cine star.

This page, in addition to detailing how Samyuktha became what she is today, also lavishes praise on Samyuktha's predecessor Manju Warrier, whose entry into the film world was quite similar to that of Samyuktha's.

For those with a penchant for posters or pictures, the picture gallery would make rewarding viewing. However, for one looking for something other than the run-of-the-mill, bust shots or `smiling close-ups' the link might come as a disappointment. A generous dose of pictures from the sets of Samyuktha movies, or those of say Samyuktha at her home, might have made this link much more interesting. The homepage picture of actress Manju Warrier for instance gives one the impression that it is a reflection of Manju's picture in a pond. Such is the effect of the `drops' of water that causes `ripples' on the photograph.

The recent releases icon leads you on to `Mazha' and `Madhuranombarakkattu'. Here, too, the link could have done with some touching up by way of some interactive features or even some well-edited video clippings. The links also give you details regarding the numbers of awards won by this up and coming actress, among other things.

By the way, don't forget to `make your presence felt' by signing on the guest book. If you had used the Keral.com route, you might have already noticed that along with the link to Samyuktha, there are those that lead the way to other film personalities too.
