Music to your ears
THROUGH WITH the New Year hangover? Take an extended vacation.
Sit back. Listen to Pop. There's a live Western Pop Show
happening at Anna Auditorium on January 2 by BITS Pilani student
V.Divya. She does her shows when she's on vacation, like this
time. The second year engineering student did a similar show last
year at Music Academy.
It was only recently that we saw the potential Chennai has, when
it comes to singing. The Video Ga Ga contest recently brought
quite some talent to the fore. Close on its heels is Divya's
programme.
At Musical Nite 2001, Divya accompanied by a band, will be
crooning music channel stuff - the chartbusters from the likes of
MTV and Channel V0. The organisers DD Ads, are banking on the
popularity of the programme and help charity institutions in the
future. The student-singer belts out film melodies with great
involvement, and perhaps will come out with her own tunes in the
future. Does it not get in the way of studies? Not really, she
says.
She is also familiar to many in the beauty contest circuit. On
Tuesday, Divya will sing in front of her home crowd from 7 p.m.
onwards.
Tickets (Ph: 4481575) are priced at Rs. 50 and available at the
venue.
