Srichand grilled for 3 hours
By Vinay Kumar
NEW DELHI, JAN. 20. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
questioned Mr. S. P. Hinduja, one of the accused in the Bofors
payoffs case, for nearly three hours today. The other brothers,
Mr. G. P. Hinduja and Mr. P. P. Hinduja, would be interrogated
tomorrow on their role in securing the Rs. 1,437-crore gun deal
for Swedish arms firm, A. B. Bofors, in 1986 and the commissions
allegedly received by them.
The brothers, who were granted bail by the Special Court
yesterday and asked to join the investigations, presented
themselves at the CBI headquarters at 3 p.m. but only Mr. S. P.
Hinduja was interrogated. Emerging out of the CBI headquarters at
6.30 p.m., Mr. Srichand Hinduja refused to make any comments but
said the brothers were cooperating with the agency.
The CBI director, Mr. R. K. Raghavan, said the questioning could
take several days and it would specifically refer to their
receiving money from A. B. Bofors in the possession of the
agency.
