Data transmission to specialist through 'Cardioweb'
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, JAN. 20. Promising to bridge the digital divide that
exists in extending medicare to rural areas, drcdr.com has
developed a personal computer-based web-enabled eDiagnostic
equipment, "Cardioweb" that helps a doctor in a small town/
village to send Electro Cardio Graph (ECG) to a specialist
anywhere for instant interpretation and expert opinion.
Launching the equipment that can easily be attached to a
computer, Dr. C. Dayakar Reddy, Chairman of the CDR Hospitals,
said it would be supplied free of cost to any doctor/ diagnostic
facility on a pay-per-use basis. Accurate and early diagnosis
being key to line of treatment, the immediate transmission of
data through internet to a specialist, could save a life. Such
time-saving and travel-cutting connectivity would be a boon for
doctors, diagnostic centres and hospitals in rural and urban
areas.
Besides ECG (to study the heart) reporting "Cardioweb", the
drcdr.com, has developed equipment for Electro Encephalo Graphy
(EEG- to study the brain) "Cerebroweb", Electro Myelo Graphy
(EMG-to study nerves and muscles) and Spirometry (to study the
lung function) "Spiroweb". "drcdr.com would be an end-to-end
eDiagnosis solution provider supplying equipment, software, web
connectivity and reporting facility", Dr. Reddy added.
For the health provider the equipment has the advantage of
connectivity to specialists anytime and anywhere and for the
consumer, early and accurate diagnosis and reduced costs.
