Combing operations to nab Veerappan
By Our Senior Reporter
COIMBATORE, JAN. 21. About 200 police personnel conducted an
intensive combing operation in the forest areas adjoining
Mettupalayam and Sirumugai, in search of forest brigand
Veerappan, on Sunday. According to police sources, the operation
was led by Mr. Balachandran, Joint Chief of the Special Task
Force (STF).
Groups of intelligence personnel have been frequenting the tribal
areas in the region, to collect information on the movement of
the brigand. On Saturday, there were rumours that the brigand had
been sighted in the region, but police denies such reports.
