Workshop on improved doctor-patient ties

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JAN. 21. A one-day workshop on communication
skills aimed at improving the doctor-nurse-patient relationship
was organised at the Medical College, here on Sunday.
The Director of Medical Education, Dr. M. S. Subhadra,
inaugurated the programme.
Dr. V. G. Chellam, Medical College Principal, chaired the
session. Prof. Salomey George, Head, Nursing College, Prof. K.T.
Sreekala, Principal-in-charge, Dental College, delivered
felicitations.
Dr. Roy Varghese, U. S.-based physician, and senior Medical
College doctors, Dr. K.A. Kumar, Dr. Ambikathmajan Nair, Dr.
Murukesan, Dr. K. T. Shenoy and Dr. Narendrenath, were among
those who participated.
Dr. Abraham presented a paper on Neurolinguistics, Dr. Kasi
Visweswaran spoke on ways to improve doctor-doctor relationships
while Dr. Joy Philip focussed on doctor-patient relationships.
Dr. Jothydev, organising secretary, Dr. Rajendran, programme
coordinator, and Dr.Sanesh, convener, also spoke.
Senior doctors, medical students and nurses attended.
The programme was organised by the Indian Geriatrics Society,
Department of Nephrology and The Golden Jubilee Committee of the
Medical College.
This training is the first in a series of three workshops to be
conducted this year with the goal of improving the deteriorating
doctor-patient relationship.
