BRS scheme: builders given 10 days for regularisation

HYDERABAD, FEB. 5. The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) on Monday asked the owners of premises including residential flats, individual buildings and commercial and institutional buildings to regularise the constructions under the Building Regularisation Scheme (BRS) within next ten days.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Mohanty, Municipal Commissioner, said action would be initiated as per provisions of the law against those failing to get their buildings regularised at the end of the deadline. The MCH had already approved 19,017 applications under the scheme of which 6,108 cases were regularised and plans were already issued.

The MCH has sent BRS approval intimation letter for 8,988 residential flats, 5,290 individual buildings and 503 commercial and institutional buildings. Intimation letters were also issued to 4,236 applicants for no objection certificate from Fire Services Department, Airport Authority of India and other certificates pertaining to structural design and stability, he said.

Of the 26,029 applications received under the BRS, 2,220 cases were rejected for parking violations, incorrect plans, constructions made after cut-off-date and their location on government land, he said.

Referring to reports on irregularities in the BRS, Mr. Mohanty advised the applicants to contact senior officials directly, either personally or over telephone, for redressing their grievances. The senior officials who could be contacted include Mr. R. Karikal Valaven (Telephone No. 3220080 or 98490-04501), Mr. R.P. Sisodia (3224056 or 98490-04502), Mr. L. Premchandra Reddy (3224824 or 98490-14628), Mr. D. Jagannath Rao (3224079 or 98490-14539) and Mr. Venkat Ram Reddy (3223259 or 98490-01376).
