It suits the season
OLD HAT: A stitch in time saves nine. Skull cap: A stitch in time
sells nine. Bring in the right clothes for the right season and
sell more when the sun shines, is the new fashion statement.
And when you do bring it in, take it to town. Let the whole city
know what your stuff is made of. Put them on the ramp, the city
just loves to watch, if the over-enthusiastic crowds at fashion
shows are any example.
Like the recent leather fair show, people at the end of the show,
had to buy new shoes. Especially, after all that overstepping on
each other toes!
It is the same story every time there's a fashion show in town, a
scramble for seats, a mini-stampede. As much as they love it, the
organisers find public attention so difficult to avoid.
So how do you go about getting the right crowds for the right
clothes to the right people at the right place? Gatsby Collection
recently, found an innovative way out.
The organisers threw a private party for their customers and
arranged for a fashion show at a beach-house on East Coast Road.
``We had a guest list of 250 but as we got closer to the event,
the numbers kept increasing and the only thing that kept us going
was `the more the merrier','' says an organiser from the Gatsby
Collection.
``The fashion show started at 11 p.m. that gave the crowd
sufficient time to settle down. We held the audience captive for
45 minutes with a five-minute audio-visual,'' he adds.
The show choreographed by Chaitanya Rao, Gatsby's in- house
designer featured three sequences for the men and women, wearable
range of clothing: work-wear, ethnic and casuals.
Gatsby followed up the show with a party, roping in a DJ from
Bangalore, as the guests boogied away into the night.
Suits all fine?
