UDF meet defers decision on boycott of Governor's address
By Our Staff Reporter
KOTTAYAM. FEB. 12. The informal meeting of the UDF laision
committee which met here today failed to take a final decision on
the issue of strategies to be adopted during the coming session
of the Kerala Assembly and deferred the decision on the boycott
of the Governor's address.
According to sources, majority of the constituents wanted a
boycott of the Governor's address. However, the stand taken by
the IUML was against it. Since a consensus could not be arrived
at, the final decision was deferred. However, it is learnt that
the UDF convener, Mr. K Sankaranarayanan, would brief the media
on the issue on Tuesday in Thiruvananthapuram.
Meanwhile, the leaders said that the UDF would attend the session
though the senior leaders would be engaged with the `Mochana
Yatra'.
The meting also discussed the issue of preparations for the
culmination of the yatra on February 24.
Interestingly, the issue of Kerala Congress unity efforts didn't
make any impact in today's meeting. While Mr. Jacob (KC-J) and
Mr. M.V. Raghavan (CMP) tried to raise the issue, it was pointed
out that the issue was not on the agenda.
Mr. A.K. Antony, Mr. K. Sankaranarayanan, Mr. P.K. Kunhalikutty,
Mr. K.M. Mani, Mr. T.M. Jacob, Mr. M.V. Raghavan, Mr.
A.V.Thamarakshan and others participated in the meeting.
