Marathi actress dies in accident

MUMBAI, FEB. 12. Ms. Bhakti Barve-Inamdar was killed in a road
accident early today. She was returning from Wai via Pune after
staging her one-woman show, centred around her own role in P. L.
Deshpande's Marathi version of Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion.
Ms. Barve - Inamdar - she was married to the late Shafi Inamdar,
another stage and cine-actor - started off as a telecaster in the
early 60s on Doordarshan and later moved to professional stage.
Ms. Barve-Inamdar had several memorable roles on the stage and
what she is remembered for long is her delineation of a flower
girl, a la Elisa in Bernard Shaw's unforgettable `My Fair Lady'
and in Ms. Vijaya Mehta's `Nagmandal'.
