Nirmala Venkatesh elected MLC

BANGALORE, FEB. 16. Ms. Nirmala Venkatesh of the Congress has
been declared elected unopposed to the Legislative Council in the
byelection.
Thursday was the last date for withdrawal of nominations, and
hers was the only nomination paper received by the Returning
Officer and Legislative Council Secretary, Mr. Rudrappa. The
byelection was necessitated by the death of the Congress member,
Kempamma.
Ms. Nirmala Venkatesh will have a term till May 2004.
