U.S. Congressional team meets Musharraf

ISLAMABAD, FEB. 22. A three-member U.S. Congressional delegation
called on the Pakistani Chief Executive, Gen. Pervez Musharraf,
here and exchanged views on various aspects of bilateral
relations.
The delegation is led by Representative Mr. David Bonior and
includes Congressmen, Mr. Joseph Pitts and Mr. Jim McDermott. It
deliberated with Gen. Musharraf on a wide range of issues,
including Kashmir and Afghanistan.
The delegation members were in India before they arrived here and
in the course of their stay there, met a number of leaders
including the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, to hear
his views on various subjects, including Kashmir.
An official press statement here said Gen. Musharraf briefed the
delegation on the Government reform agenda and the steps being
taken to restore democracy. ``The delegation also discussed
latest developments in Kashmir and other issues of regional peace
and security as well as current developments in Afghanistan
following the imposition of U.N. sanctions.''
Later the delegation called on the Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdul
Sattar. The members will also meet the Interior Minister, Lt.
Gen. (retd) Moinuddin Haider. Their programme includes a visit to
a refugee camp in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-occupied
Kashmir, and the Line of Control before their departure on
February 24.
