HCL Tech pact with U.S. firm

By Our Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI, FEB. 22. HCL Technologies has formed an alliance with Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, a Nasdaq listed company engaged in providing integrated circuit solutions for LAN/WAN/SAN markets.

A dedicated offshore development centre (ODC) in its 55,000 sq. ft complex here would work as an extended arm of Vitesse's design engineering team for a wide range of networking integrated circuits. HCL Technologies will also provide hardware and software services to Vitesse customers, said Mr. R. Vaidyanathan, Executive Vice President, at a press conference organised at the new development centre.

Mr. Steve Sheafor, Vice President of Technology, Vitesse Semiconductor Corporation, said HCL Technologies had been working with Vitesse on a turnkey basis for more than a year and completed several successful projects. Vitesse has a plant in Taiwan for producing chips and HCL would serve as a directly connected extension of Vitesse engineering through a dedicated high-speed data link.
