Mark Waugh injured
MUMBAI, FEB. 22. Mark Waugh injured the webbing between the
little and ring finger of his top (left) hand while trying to
stop an edged drive by Sairaj Bahutule to make himself a doubtful
starter for the first Test starting here on February 27.
According to the Australian John Buchannan, Waugh will not risk
batting against Mumbai because of the stitches in the injured
area. ``There are five more days to go for the first Test. I hope
he will recover in time for the Test match,'' said Mr. Buchannan.
Such injuries usually take longer than five days to heal and only
a miracle can see Mark Waugh, who was the top scorer on the last
tour of India in 1998, in the eleven for the opening Test.
