Second Lancer showroom in Chennai
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, MARCH 5. Hindustan Motors today opened its second show
room for Mitsubishi Lancer here - ARAS Mitsubishi Lancer
Showroom.
The new showroom comes with Hind Motors focussing on the South.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr. B.K. Chaturvedi,
president of the company, said with a monthly sales of 50 odd
vehicles, Hind Motors had been holding a 50 per cent market share
in the mid-premium car segment in the city. In Tamil Nadu, as a
whole, it was selling on an average 75 cars monthly as against a
total volume of 145 odd vehicles in the segment.
The president claimed that though sale of cars in the mid-premium
category had dropped by 47 per cent in February compared to the
same month last year, Hindustan Motors had shown a dip in sale
volume of only 23 per cent.
To a question, he expected a 15 per cent incremental demand in
sales for Hind Motors in the wake of budget-induced sops. Mr.
Chaturvedi said HM would now focus more on services. In this
context, he referred to the appointment of a dedicated team of
territory managers exclusively to service customers' needs.
Asked about new Lancer variants that the company was
contemplating, he said a study was currently on to find out the
price-volume relationship. Once this was done, an appropriate
decision would be taken, he said.
