Preparatory camp commences
CHENNAI, MARCH 5. The three-day preparatory hockey camp for the
Prime Minister's Gold tournament to be held in Dhaka from March
10 to 20 commenced at the SDAT-Radhakrishnan Stadium here this
evening. Twenty two players, including six from the junior squad
that triumphed at Cairo last week, are attending the camp.
Devesh Chauhan, the second goal-keeper for the senior squad, who
is appearing for his exams, left for home. He will not be
available for the Dhaka tournament. Bharat Chetri, the junior
keeper, is expected to be the replacement.
Mr. K.P.S. Gill, president, Indian Hockey Federation (IHF),
visited the camp briefly before his departure for Delhi on
Monday.
There has been a noticeable improvement in the condition of the
chief coach, Cedric D'Souza, who was hospitalised on the eve of
the third match on Sunday.
Mr. Jothikumaran, secretary, IHF, who visited the coach at the
hospital, said Cedric would be discharged by Tuesday, and take
charge by Wednesday.
Meanwhile, three-time Olympian Dhanraj Pillay is expected to join
