Steps to ease traffic congestion in Vadapalani area
By Our Staff Reporter
CHENNAI, MARCH. 9. Vehicles coming on 100 Feet Road from
Koyambedu round-about will not be allowed to take a right turn
towards Vadapalani bus-stand from March 10 on an experimental
basis.
The vehicles from Koyambedu Round About on 100 Feet Road will
proceed along Nerkundrampadai and Kumaran Colony Main Road to
reach NSK Salai.
Heavy vehicles and light motor vehicles proceeding beyond
Virugambakkam can hereafter take the route via P.T.Rajan Salai,
Rajamannar Salai and 80 Feet Road to reach NSK Salai at Ashok
Nagar IInd Avenue junction.
Vehicles coming from Ashok Pillar will take right turn into NSK
Salai at 100 Feet Road junction. The changes are being made to
ease traffic congestion in the area, according to a traffic
police press release.
It may be recalled that the Vadapalani-Inner Ring Road junction
frequently faces traffic jams and motorists have been demanding a
fly-over here. Many of the flyovers built in the city carry only
a fraction of the traffic that passes through Vadapalani
junction.
