Tension over murder

CHENNAI, MARCH 9. Traders downed shutters and tension prevailed
in Ayanavaram following the murder of a businessman by a group at
Ponnusamy Street in Ayanavaram this afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Kadirvel (50), owner of Bhavani
Agencies, dealing with bricks, sand and blue metal.
According to police, the victim was in his shop when the
assailants attacked him with knives and sped away. The identity
of the culprits was not immediately known. Police said even the
motive for the crime was not clear.
In another incident, an alleged gangster Prabha was hacked to
death by rival gang members at Teachers Colony in Kodungaiyur.
The victim was going to his mother's house when he was attacked
by the gang.
