Forex reserves at $41.98 b

MUMBAI, MARCH 10. Foreign currency reserves have risen by $204
million in the week ended March 2 to $41.98 billion. Foreign
currency assets were up by $244 million at $39.27 billion,
according to the Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical
supplement issued here today. Gold reserves have declined by $40
million to $2.71 billion, while special drawing rights (SDRs)
remained static at $ 1 million.
The increase in foreign currency assets since December 2000 was
$2 billion. Gold holdings have declined by $100 million and SDRs
by 1 million.
The growth in total reserves on a year-on-year basis was $5.97
billion with an increase in foreign currency assets by $6.37
billion and a drop in gold and SDR holdings by $393 million and
$3 million respectively.
