NIMS Director presented Lifetime Award
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, MARCH 17. Prof. Kakarla Subba Rao, Director of the
Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, was presented the Lifetime
Achievement Award by the Governor, Dr. C. Rangarajan on behalf of
the A.P. Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association
(IRIA) here on Saturday.
Complimenting the eminent radiologist for his outstanding
contribution to several areas of medicine, the Governor said
there could be no better model than Dr. Subba Rao for young
medical professionals to follow. He had time and again drawn the
attention of the medical profession to the fact that medicine was
not only a profession but a mode of service to the people.
Mr. Justice M. Ramakrishna, Lok Ayukta of A.P., who presided,
recalled how Dr. Subba Rao had renounced a roaring medical
practice in the United States of America and returned to A.P. in
response to a call given by the late N.T. Rama Rao in 1984.
Responding to the felicitation, Dr. Subba Rao said he left for
the USA when his house was burnt during the Telangana agitation.
He said he had no future plans other than to continue to work for
relieving the sufferings of the helpless.
The former Speaker, Mr. P. Ramachandra Reddy, also spoke. Prof.
B. Rama Subbarayudu, Vice-President of the IRIA, A.P. Chapter,
welcomed and Dr. K. Prabhakar Reddy, General Secretary proposed a
vote of thanks.
