Steady start by South Africa
GEORGETOWN, MARCH 17. South Africa was 61 for no loss, after
electing to bat, in the second Test against West Indies at the
Queen's Park Oval here on Saturday.
Herschelle Gibbs with 34 (79b, 3 x 4) and Gary Kirsten with 22
(89b, 1 x 4) were at the crease. The West Indies used four
bowlers - Courtney Walsh, Merv Dillon, Nixon McLean and Dinanath
Ramnarine.
Walsh had good figures of 17 runs off 10 overs while Dillon was a
touch expensive with figures of 26 off nine overs. Ramnarine, who
was brought in before lunch, had a run taken off his two overs.

West Indies: Wavell Hinds, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Brian
Lara, Carl Hooper (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Ridley Jacobs,
Nixon McLean, Mervyn Dillon, Dinanath Ramnarine and Courtney
