Narrow escape for passengers
SHIMLA, MARCH 18. At least 150 people had a miraculous escape in
a head-on collision between two passenger trains at Shogi, 18 km
from here on the Shimla-Kalka Railway section today, Railway
sources said.
Two persons, including a child, sustained minor injuries.
However, no damage was caused to the track.
The sources said the collision occurred, at around 10 a.m.,
between the Shivalik passenger train and the down mixed passenger
train which was plying on the wrong track.
The mishap blocked the track for about an hour. Senior Railway
officers were holding an inquiry into the mishap.
The Shivalik train bound for Shimla was coming from Kalka, while
the down mixed passenger train was on way to Kalka from Shimla.
